NASCAR’s Richard Petty Launches A-B’s Designated Driver Campaign

As thousands of NASCAR fans traveled to Lowe’s Motor Speedway for the race over the Memorial Day Weekend, they saw Richard Petty’s new Anheuser-Busch billboard.  Instead of touting the great taste of the beer, however, the board featuring Petty focused on using a designated driver and drinking responsibly. 

The campaign materials read, “Designated Drivers…Preferred By Kings Everywhere,” and include the text, “The King of the Road and the King of Beers remind you to choose a designated driver. Two out of three American adults have been or used a designated driver. Thanks for making sure everyone gets home safely.”

A-H rolled out the new campaign last week, prior to the holiday weekend race.  Petty will be featured in a print ad, outdoor board, T-shirt and sign-making materials that will be used in Budweiser’s 600+ wholesalers nationwide. 

The “King of Beers” appropriately choose the most decorated NASCAR driver in history for their designated driver campaign.  As an experienced driver, Petty brings authenticity and credibility to Budweiser’s campaign.  And the relationship already exists, as Budweiser is the primary sponsor of Richard Petty Motorsports’ No. 9 Cup entry with driver Kasey Kahne.
